I am exhausted, but so thankful! My professional cup is full! This weekend I met so many wonderful childcare professionals who are all working so hard to continue to learn, grow, and nurture themselves. They all gave up their time off to show up at Nannypalooza, the most encouraging conference I’ve attended. Why? Because every day they are nurturing children to learn and grow! I am so proud to be a part of this field. And, I felt so honored to be able to speak at this conference. It was a joy to hear their insights and questions as I shared my heart for how I have seen Positive Discipline create thriving, empathetic, resilient, and kind tiny humans. Plus, I got an awesome scarf while I was there.

Happy Friday!! Today I’m finishing up work and heading off to a “fill up my cup” weekend of professional development, networking, and fun at #nannypalooza2019 ! I’ll also be speaking on how we, as Nannies, can integrate positive discipline based childcare to raise adults we would want to go out to coffee with. If you’ll be there, check out my stories to ask your positive childcare questions and I’ll get them ready for tomorrow. 🙌🏻 I hope to see you there!!

Happy Summer friends!! It is once again that time of year when I hear “wow good luck with all the kids home!” Or “hardest time of year huh?” And my heart drops a little because summer is my absolute FAVORITE time with these kiddos. . One thing that helps keep summer so fun is this idea of summer rhythms. Each year before school ends I ask the kids a series of questions: 1) What is something we don’t usually get to do that you would be sad if we didn’t get to? (These become our adventure day activities) 2) What do you want to try to do every week? 3) What are some things you want to enjoy at home in the afternoons? . From there, I add the fee things we have to do, our responsibilities. And then I fill in the calendar and set a rhythm. This helps manage expectations, set a routine, make sure the kids don’t “miss out” on their favorite things, and still gives them plenty of unstructured time for rest and creativity. . This rhythm has changed based on ages, favorite activities, and family responsibilities. But I have found that it is the greatest contributor to a peaceful and joy filled summer.
